Welcome back to "Indulging Synn," guys and gals. I'll apologize right out of the gate for the delay between posts; it's been an unusually busy week for the X-Man, and I'll elaborate a little more on that later on. With all that said, let's get to the results.
Last week's Anarchy was a mess, a right mess... The whole night started out with Jada, of all people, accepting the open challenge put out by Cordelia Murphy at the previous Warzone. Immediately after this, we saw Jimm Red's former manager and family friend, Leon Lees, approaching Joseph Woods with a management offer, only to receive a pretty negative reaction from the cowboy.
In the first match of the night, we saw two newcomers square off as Seraphim took out the controversial Ironclad. Neither one of these guys are really helping the "freak" tag on Anarchy these days. Without much of a break afterwards, the DDT-Joseph Woods match took place with Woods getting the better of the new rookie.
And then it was time for the... "anarchy," for lack of a better word, to start. In the bout between Jezter and (FINALLY) the Arnold Classic, the clown ended up biting the Arnold in the face, as well as spewing green mist in his eyes before hitting his finisher and getting the win. It didn't end there, however, as Jezter took it upon himself to send a message to Tiger Komaru, the man he's been bickering with backstage, taking a chair to the Arnold's leg and effectively ending his fledgling XHW career on the spot. No one deserves that kind of... fate.
Continuing the chaos, we got a nice little visit from North Starr to remind the world that, even though he lost to Asylum at Superbrawl II, he is still the King of Mind Games. His proof? The Anarchy Championship. Starr has seemingly stolen the belt from Doc Hammer, and the "Ironman" wasn't too happy about it, charging the ring and leveling the Cobra Commander before getting taken out by a chair swung by Starr himself. Could this be the beginnings of something a little more... official?
In a rather lackluster debut for Taz, and a surprisingly strong showing from Cleaven "The Chance" Audrey, the Chance managing to pull out a victory over the former ECW Champion. It looks like the veteran may have bit off a little more than he can chew here in the XHW.
The mess continued as we got a rather ambiguous message on the MegaTron. With fireworks going off and gold sparks coming from the stage, the words, "The Past and Present Will Collide, History Will be Relived," came onto the screen. I think that's probably as mysterious as you'll get, even for us.
What exactly is the motivation for Diego Cortez challenging Johnny Diamond? My colleague Mark Matthews had that same question in mind when he approached the Spaniard at Anarchy. The answer? He's sick of hearing Diamond whine about wanting another shot at the Undisputed Championship, he wants retribution for the Japanese Seaman, and, most importantly, he wants to put on a show for the Stomping Grounds crowd.
After that, we got a special visit from Warzone star, J.T. Cash. Why? Well, Cash wanted to remind the world, as he so eloquently does, that he's the man to beat in the DTTT, and also to send a personal message to Next Generation teammate Jimm Red, explicitly expressed that Red won't ever get the title until Cash is through with it. Bold words...
Who would have thought that either Wesley Burns or sIMON could get any more... bizarre? Well, they have, and now they are apparently teaming together. After North Starr and sIMON were defeated by the team of Shark Boy and Burns at Anarchy, Wesley, in his typically fashion, seemed to get more and more frustrated throughout the match. Afterwards, he was coerced into attacking both North Starr and Shark Boy, sending a vicious message in the process. It wasn't a fireball, but I think the moment will still be controversial enough to earn another reprimand from management for the Burninator.
Kurt Angle is a little furious about how he was choked out by Taz at Xtreme All Access. He let the entire Stomping Grounds crowd know it as he came out to let the world know he's gunning for a submission match sometime soon to send a message to his former rival. Later in the night, Victor Mason let Angle know that he's not through with him either, although Mason seems to be constantly distracted by whatever that music every time he comes out.
Do we finally have a new contender for Excessive Force? It very well may be the Adams siblings: Koby and Frankie. The newly paired duo dispatched of the Sheglins rather effortlessly on Saturday, earning a victory and perhaps moving a little closer to a shot at the big time.
Doc Hammer took care of business, even if he didn't have his belt in hand. Asylum went down to the Ironman, and the chaos didn't end there as Johnny Blade and even the newly arriving "King CHAVO" (who I found out about a couple weeks ago) both staked their claim to the lowest crown in the federation. It likes like the Anarchy title will live up to its name.
Aaron Kay is back, and this time he's being managed by the sultry Morgan Ripley. She got a few words in with my colleague Mark Mathews Saturday night as she let him know that Kay is not to be trifled with. Other than that, she didn't really have much to say aside from the fact that she's not the one who bailed him out of prison. That remains a mystery...
Whatever happened to Dirk Diver? The Baron was manhandled by Reno Drake as the Silent Assassin was out to send a message to Mr. Jingles, defeated Dirk to claim the number one contendership to the Bronx Championship. After it was all over with, Jingles and the Nameless One sent a message of their own, delivering a barrage of clowns to the ring and playing a little head games by displaying a "familiar" bra to Drake. Reno managed to fend off most of the clowns, but eventually got overwhelmed, and then realized that Jingles was in the mix the entire time! This one is just beginning, and I can't say who exactly has the upper hand here...
Finally it was time for the main event as BlkOut and Maverick Harley finally faced off in their "Falls Count Anywhere" match. This all came about after BlkOut started his XHW career by attacking Mav repeatedly and eventually taking it to Mav's love interest, Roxas Knoxx, in the middle of the ring at Xtreme All Access. The match had almost everything, including interference from the rest of Project 242. Both men got their licks in, and both took a severe beating, but in the end it was BlkOut delivering the Curb Stomp onto a stack of chairs for the victory. Alas, the show was over.
And then there was Warzone. While there wasn't as much bedlam as there was on Anarchy, the show certainly gave us some indication of what's the come in the weeks leading up to Barely Legal...
One such match that looks like it might be taking shape is Mike Hoss versus the returned Alex Homme. Warzone's opener saw Hoss coming out to call out the Hardkore Icon and remind him that he's no pushover either. He challenged Homme to a match at Barely Legal where the fans would get to choose the stipulation. Even further, he challenged Homme to reveal exactly where he's been all this time, a question that many of us have been asking. Now, we wait and see...
It was a trio of women's matches to open the show's fighting. In the first, Casey Dodge and O.D.B. both couldn't make it to their match against Audree Gates and Roxas Knoxx, effectively forfeiting. Second, Grace Rourke became the first to put a dent in Talia Arroyo's record, showing the newcomer how the big girls play. And then, it was FiXX reestablishing her dominance by putting down Women's Championship hopeful Tyler Kiss with her new finishing maneuver. In the last and final women's match of the night, however, it was the champion herself, Cordelia Murphy, taking on her "open challenger" Jada, where if the challenger won she would get a shot at the belt. In the end, though, Murphy was too much too soon for the Academy student, getting the win. Later in the week, Murphy would issue the same challenge for the following Warzone to whomever wished to answer (Grace Rourke took the opportunity soon after).
Giovanni Valentino's arrogance knows no bounds. He brought out Universal Champion Eddie Rourke only to berate his fashion sense yet again with that sport coat. However, this time, Rourke would have none of it, tearing the coat and hitting Valentino with a Cutt Off for his troubles. Later in the night, however, Valentino moved a step closer to Rourke with a victory over former Universal Champion, Turbine. With a few more wins over division opponents, we could be seeing this match at Barely Legal as well...
Lucy Walker is back in blonde, and back in the XHW as she made an appearance at Warzone. She immediately asserted her authority, laying off Chris Crawford, Luke Cage, Bastian Bux, and Rhett Wildman, as well as announcing that she'll appear on Anarchy to announce a hiring, and letting the rest of the federation know that all "special" matches will have to go through her (i.e., Draven Torette and Jay Adam's recent endeavors). So much for the Claire Logan era!
It was a hotly anticipated match as Johnny Diamond and Reinhardt faced off this week. The two had never met before, and the match certainly lived up to the hype. Halfway through, we even got an appearance from Diego Cortez, distracting Diamond a bit, but not quite enough as the NextGen member picked up the victory. Afterwards, however, the Spaniard reminded Diamond about their main event match on Anarchy, not willing to be ignored.
For those looking forward to the Jakk Levy-Jay Adams face off, you were sorely disappointed on Wednesday. As anticipated, Jakk wasn't quite ready to return from injury, but that didn't stop Adams from declaring himself the victor in their match, as well as claiming victories over both Shaun and (despicably) Scott Levy after challenging both of them to a match. That's our Undisputed Champion, folks, a real class act. Before leaving, however, he did state that at least five XHW employees would be in the Jay Adams Invitational, leaving the rest to mystery. I can only imagine...
Eventually it was time for the heavily anticipated "Draven Torette Tribute Tournament," a match that saw all the contenders from the X-Core division squaring off in a battle royal where the last five remaining men move on to the next round. Earlier in the night, Jimm red let his intentions be known as the former number one contender, effectively ignored by Torette in the fashioning of the DTTT. Red did prove his mettle as he lasted to the final two, but was eliminated by the surprise winner of the match, Aston Michaels! The other three to move on included the other two members of the Next Generation that were in the match, J.T. Cash and Mike Hoss, as well as Johnny Sniper. Afterwards, Draven Torette announced that round 2 will be a ladder match where four briefcases, only three of which containing advancement opportunities, will be fought for. I have to hand it to him, this is exciting to watch!
Let's get to the backstage news as I'm sure you're all chomping at the bit to see what's been going down...
Riley DeSantos is certainly back in full swing. After run-ins with several XHW superstars since her return (including 1 with Koby Adams), it was inevitable that she'd bump into the also-returned Aaron Kay, her former fiance and father of her child, Lucas. It was an animosity-filled meeting from her side to say the least. Kay also had a little spat with Dakota Burrows about the whole "prison" situation, as well as running into FiXX in a workout room.
A little something interesting for all of you, this note was posted on XHW.com claiming a "Battle of New York" in June 2008. Let the rumor mill begin!
She may want a piece of the action, but Awesome Kong is going to have to fight her way into the X-Core division, and Diego Cortez reminded her of that in this little conversation that took an interesting turn. Kong also took her argument right to the man himself, Draven Torette, trying to get in his ear.
Looking for a new diva crush? Maybe Alyssa Cruise is your flavor. She and Koby Adams met backstage in the gym, having a brief conversation.
At the very least her career has hit a snag, and at the most it's likely over with: O.D.B. has been checked into rehab, and will most likely be there for quite some time...
The interesting relationship between BlkOut and Claire Logan plods on. After talking about championship gold and what's next on their plate, the two had a bit more to say, as well as having another interaction later in the week with even more tension. In other "relationship" news, Tyler Kiss and Mike Hoss aren't going anywhere, and neither are Frankie Adams and Morgan Garcia (woo!).
After being attacked by Scott Walker in his match against Daman Arress a couple weeks ago, Johnny Sniper took his argument to Walker himself, wanting to get to the bottom of it.
Two fresh faces met each other backstage as Morgan Ripley and Wade Harvey bumped into each other. Harvey seemed to know all about Ms. Ripley, while the manager required an actual introduction, understandably. Ripley also ran into J.T. Cash, delivering more insults than information, seemingly belittling Cash in her subtle way at every turn. I'll admit... I enjoyed it!
Could business and personal lives collide? That might be the case with Dakota Burrows and Giovanni Valentino. With Gio gunning for the Universal Championship and Dakota in the same division, this could get interesting. They had a chat recently to squash that little sidebet.
Could FiXX be the reason that Frankie Adams left the Dogtown Raiders? That was the accusation that started this conversation between the Queen and the Shining Light.
With strife within the Next Generation ranks and the apparent dissolution of the Dogtown Raideres, Project 242 seems like the only viable faction left in the XHW. The group had a meeting recently to discuss their future, and, not surprisingly, gold is a big part of the discussion.
It's hard to see Jakk Levy as a father considering his age, but that's going to be the case here in a few months. He and his lady, Jasmine, talked baby, houses, and wrestling in a rare family moment caught by cameras.
Jezter and Asylum... friends? That was the rumor going around before Anarchy this week, and the cameras DID manage to catch their conversation. Apparently, Asylum is quite the popular figure recently, as he even managed to get a few words in with Dakota Burrows, giving... life advice?
This thing is getting darker and darker the longer it going on. Reno Drake and Mr. Jingles will square off at some point for the Bronx Championship, but will there be special stipulations when they do? That's what the Nameless One is proposing...
He may be gone, but he's not out... At least that's what Ben Hampton is hoping for the former Undisputed Champion, the Japanese Seaman. The 2007 XHW Manager of the Year was found lobbying for his guy with Lucy Walker recently, but with the renewed anger, it didn't look like Walker was apt to comply...
Back from the dead, and some people are a little upset about not getting the memo beforehand. That was the situation when Alex Homme approached Cordelia Murphy backstage, although she eventually warmed up.
That's all I've got for this week, folks. Due to this late posting, I won't go over the cards for last night's Anarchy and the upcoming Warzone. In an actually related piece of news, the task of keeping up with all of the backstage goings-on as well as the recapping of the weekly shows will fall to my work associate, Mr. Mark Mathews, in his new segment entitled, "Basic Mathews-matics." Yes, friends, I'm actually going to be away for a few weeks on a much needed vacation, but rest assured that I will be back! Until next time... thanks for indulging me!
